I'm trying to make a list of basic equipment to get together, and one thing I know I'll need is practical shoes. I don't know shit about boots, though, so here I am asking about them. For reference, I'm living in Southwest Florida right now, so I want boots that can function in a marsh environment if necessary. I thought about "duck boots". Are they any good as, like, trekking-across-the-wasteland shoes?
What I own right now are: one pair of Doc Marten boots with no dye/treatment of the leather (p sure they were irregulars), and one pair of leather boots I'm told are either Korea or Vietnam-era surplus. Both are heavy and sturdy, but with the Docs especially I'm worried about keeping out water.
The obvious choice to me is either the aforementioned duck boots or something military surplus, but are there any other good options I'm not considering?
These are some boots I thought looked good. The "jungle type" is something I think I need, and also they seem to come in small sizes to accommodate my tiny lady feet. The price seems low, though. Should I expect to pay more for quality shoes?

Quick answer: Yes you should expect to pay more for quality shoes. For the kind of terrain you talking about, a good pair of hiking boots may also be suitable.
In regards to hiking boots, if you have any outdoors/hiking/orienteering clubs in your area, ask them about their footwear or if you can't find any of them, check with a reputable outdoors store about their recommendations for the area you want the boots for. Bonus with hiking boots is that they make them in both women's and men's sizes.
