Yeah, I might do that if I go with someone.

So I picked up the Ranch Hand yesterday and took it to the range today. But unfortunately, I was only able to put about 10 rounds through it because there looks to be something majorly wrong with it. Basically it won't load properly, which causes it to jam. I got it to work when loading only a single round a few times, but then every time I tried to load a second round it would jam, and a lot of the time it would jam on the first round.

Definitely wasn't fun to be messing around in the breech with a paper clip trying to extract a live round right on the range, multiple times.

I'm going to take it back to the shop next weekend, but here's a video I made showing the problem in case anyone has any idea what's going on.

Best thing to do would be to contact Rossi if you can. I would think at least, I did that for my marlin.

Boy, that bites, but I'm sure it's repairable. Lever actions are more complex than you'd think. Once you get it working though, it should ALWAYS work. Seems like the lifter isn't doing it's job correctly.

The plug on the breech end of the magazine spring assembly should NOT progress past the feed gate. I'd send it back ASAP.

Good luck. I really want to see that thing spitting out heavy .357 projectiles.

I sent it back to Rossi a couple weeks ago. They say it will take 6-8 weeks to get it back to me. It kinda sucks that I have to wait to shoot it, but I bet it will work great after getting looked at.

They probably sent it back to the factory in Brazil with a nasty note. Lever actions have pretty complex (but beautiful) internals - they are a lot like 1911's in that if they are setup right they work beautifully, but it takes skill to get them right. AR15's they are not. I am still strongly leaning towards one in .45 LC but I'm not working OT right now, and may have some 'enforced' time off for a few weeks, so am watching my expenditures.

I got mine back today and it still has the same problem. Jams on every round. I'll be calling them tomorrow and sending it back again I guess.

That really sucks man. You should just get a refund or an exchange for another one at this point I would think.

I was thinking about an exchange, but given how we have to register everything over here, I wondered how that process would work. I'm hoping they strip the guts out of it and basically rebuild it.

Yes, I did. I got it back the second time, and it mostly works. Sometimes if you let the feed gate close before you get all 6 rounds in, the gate will lock and it won't let you add any more, but it never jams like it did before.

One thing that still sucks is the sight is adjusted too high, so you have to aim way below what you want to hit.

But overall it's great fun to shoot.
