I love improvising cool stuff out of junk I come across. Some time back, I found what looks to have been a tool for removing a locking hubcap. It has a metal cylinder for a handle, with each end of the cylinder a different size wrench head. Extending from the middle of the cylinder is a 5" slotted screwdriver. I used a grinder to put a nice point on the end of the screwdriver. Then wrapped the cylinder in friction tape. Inside the cylinder, I was able to fit some strike anywhere matches in a container as well as some tinder. Now I have a nice little push knife with fire starting supplies. I made a sheath out of a cardboard toilet paper tube, flattened and staples holding it together. Not too shabby for about a half hour of work.

I just made a fishing rod out of part of a chainlink fence, some crappy paracord, and a old broom handle. I am also able to put the lock/string weapon on it and us it as a flail.

I'm an engineer, so i'd hope pretty much anything i needed.
That said, i only really work with beer and dairy. Actually, that could be a pretty good post-apocalyptic business model...
