I wasn't really able to get into Wastelands: Stories of the Apocalypse, wasn't my cup of tea.

I was quite unimpressed with the first half, King. But it took a turn for the better come the halfway mark. So far the stories have been really good, with a great mix of last man on earth, Road Warrior and even one Borderlands style story.

I'm about 30-40% through Domain of the Dead by Iain McKinnon. Unlike a lot of other zombie novels, this skips the cornball one liners and annoying characters for a more believable and realistic zombie apocalypse thriller. I currently put this up there with Day by Day Armageddon

I didn't real like Wastelands: Stories of the Apocalypse either - the stories were either too obtuse or clever for me - I just didn't get many of them.
I just re-read I am Legend - what a read this. The problem is - where do I go next? Every other book seems like down hill in the genre...

It is quite hard to top I am Legend. Why not move onto something that doesn't involve zombies/vampires?

I finished Domain of the Dead, which kind of bogged down into silliness near the end. Though overall it was an enjoyable zombie romp. Be aware that it ends abruptly and you will need to source out the sequel for it's continuation.
I am now about 40% into The Jakarta Pandemic. This is currently free as a Kindle Book on Amazon and is surprisingly good. It follows a normal American family that watches the growth of a major new flu that spawns into a worldwide epidemic. This is kind of like a "Survivalist Contagion Lite" and a nice change from my usual Zombie Plague novels.

I just finished Terry Nation's Survivors, and then started The Wanderers, a zombie apocalypse novel first published in Spain, and recently translated to English. It's decent enough so far.

Not post-apocalyptic, but I busted out the Doom series books again. I read them back in the day when I was a kid, and loved them. So now I'm giving them another round.
However I did finish the two Day by Day Armageddon books... great stuff. Very well-executed zombie fiction.

Megaton, I'm having a really hard time putting this damn book down. It's starting to pick up now and is quite a tense little book. I so far highly recommend it.

Well i finished The Jakarta Pandemic. There were some small niggling bits that frustrated me, like the wife. While it's no award winner, it was still a solid and extremely gripping story that had me hooked from beginning to end.
Highly recommended read for it's current price tag of $0 as an ebook on Amazon.

What did you think of it? Translates quite well over the last 40 years doesn't it.

I've just started the second, having had to take a little break with the first (had to intersperse it with a bit of Agatha Christie after a fairly vivid nightmare, one of those were you dream that you wake up and it all really happened) Brilliant read.

I intend to write up a real review on my blog, but the short version is that it was just ok. I didn't realize until after I read it that it was based on the tv show, not the other way around.
But I also found out that there's a sequel, Genesis of a Hero or something like that, that completely departs from the canon of the show, and is supposed to be a lot darker. I just need to track down an affordable copy.

After finishing the Heinlein novel I mentioned cracking open a few months back, I started on Walter Miller Jr.'s 'A Canticle for Liebowitz'. I know it must sound strange, but I am also listening to the audiobook version of it as I get to bed every day. At first I found it a bit boring since I'd just been reading through what I was hearing then, but I've grown accustomed to it and it also helps me get to sleep much more quickly than I am used to. You can find the audio streaming here.
