Add Gimme Shelter by the Stones. That and Springfield's For What It's Worth are my absolute favorite songs from that era. The latter especially holds great meaning that most music does not convey.

Hi, I think that The Wall is a good example of apocalyptic music. When the war ends, another is rising from the ashes. There are plenty of discussions about the wall in particular at rogerwaters.com forum. I love it there and hope to like it here. =)

I am mostly intrested in bands and songs that have a lyrical theme that relates to post-apocalyptic stuff but everything with a filthy dystopian doomsday feeling and wibe is also very much interesting.
Here is a couple of bands and stuff that I already have come up with.
Ministry (Do I have to say more?) Revolting Cocks Skinny Puppy (mostly for the atmosphere) frontline assembly (cyberpunkish and great) Peace love & Pitbulls Non Phixion (hiphop with a futuristic dystopianfeeling) Fallout (3) soundtrack Bioshock (2?) soundtrack
Any more suggestions?

Skinny Puppy is great.
…and talking about game-tracks: maybe you would find "7th Legion" soundtrack interesting (+retro gaming nostalgia).
…and very interesting music is from an adventure game called: "The Dig" !! (talking about adventure: try the game "Beneath a steel sky")
…very nice 8-bit music comes also with the SNES game: F-ZERO (it is not PA-atmosphere, but very nice melodies and brilliant produced music; and the game is futuristic-gacing with interesting landscapes and concept)
(maybe you know everything I wrote down, but I had the need…)

There's a movie called Valhalla Rising, it's a bit arthouse, a bit psychedelic trip and a bit apocalyptic. Despite all the Scottish accents (caused by most of the actors being Scottish), the characters are Norsemen at the time when Christianity was replacing the Norse gods. Some people hate the movie for being very slow paced with a brooding atmosphere and minimalist dialogue. I liked it and I think the soundtrack is particularly good as a background track for games or even reading PA fiction.
