I hope lordyo doesn't mind me saying so, but if you're a fan of post-apocalyptic looking photographs and art, you need to check out the journal of his trip to Chernobyl and Pripyat. http://timmsuess.com/chernobyl-journal/

That shot of the elementary school room full of childrens' gas masks is amazing.

He also has some great photos of abandoned sites on his Many Faces of Decay blog.

Great stuff there.

May the road gangs never meet you. May the wind be fallout-free. May the sun shine through the ashes, hot rain not fall on thee. And until we meet again, may no one hold your flesh in the palm of their hand.

Thank you so much, I had this a long time ago as a link but lost it and it would be so appropriate.

Just wanted to say that these pictures are awesome! I wish they'd be in a bigger resolution there (is flickr limiting that?), but the colors and contrasts are really, really great. The motives are, anyway ;D

Lordyo is on the forums. If there's a particular pic you like you might ask if he'll give you a larger version of it.

Hey there - thanks for all your kind words. If you're interested in one particular picture, let me know. Under the Wallpapers section in the Chernobyl journal, you might find it already:

http://timmsuess.com/chernobyl-journal/chernobyl-journal-the-wallpapers/

By the way, I've just posted a new photo set - it's industrial, not PA, but you might like it anyway:

Cool, I plan on taking some pics of the local industrial location's that circle my town. When I get some stuff can you give me some help with the lighting?

Lighting, you mean correcting contrast, brightness, etc.? Sure, let me know what you want to do.

Two recommendations: 1) Use a tripod for anything you shoot in-doors. When I'm exploring, I never use flash, always my tripod, and if it's really dark I have exposure times over 30 seconds. 2) Shoot in RAW if your camera allows it. RAW stores images in three channels instead of one, which lets you correct the picture much better in post-processing (as opposed to JPGs, where the camera autoprocesses). RAWs take up more space on your memcards of course.

If you use Photoshop, there are two ways to change the shades:

1) Image > Hue/Saturation > tick Colorize > change Hue while keeping Saturation low.

2) A more advanced approach with the channel mixer: http://www.communities.hp.com/online/blo....pho toshop.aspx

Have fun!

Is there a quick and dirty way to create that high dynamic range effect? Or is that the channel mixer method?

Well, the quick & dirty method is to shoot in RAW and use PhotoMatrix.
