You can see why producers of The Colony thought it would be a good idea to set a post-apocalyptic show there.

May the road gangs never meet you. May the wind be fallout-free. May the sun shine through the ashes, hot rain not fall on thee. And until we meet again, may no one hold your flesh in the palm of their hand.

The shit really hit the fans in Katrina, sad thing is though that it's predicted to become more and more common in the Gulf. And if you think that Katrina was bad wait till a hurricane finds its way up the Atlantic coast, New York doesn't even have to get hit to be royal fucked from it.

I know this comes off as callous, but Katrina was the most overrated disaster I can recall. It didn't have to happen. It was a combination of idiots in local (that's right LOCAL) government and idiots living in the area. Every single one of them was warned to leave. While there are exceptions, I'm sure, they are just that - exceptions.

One of the families in the town I used to live in took in Katrina "refugees." When the government checks came, the "refugees" shot right over to the Indian casino in a group, blew all their money, and got arrested robbing a gas station on the way home. This is why at least a few of those homes people cry about not being fixed aren't fixed.

Whole situation pisses me off to this day.

I have to agree with neospooky on this.
Those fools were told to split the scene and they chose to stay. They chose their own fate and made things worse for their brothers by stealing and raping and so on after it was all over. It was just an excuse to turn criminal!

The thin veneer of civilization is easily tossed aside, you need to remember this. I don't trust many people because of this, there is no way to tell what a person will do when shit hits the fan.
