They say the best weapon for the zombie apocalypse is the one you have, but I still better hope that the zombification virus also causes a thinning of the skull, because my weapons are all .22s.

Those are a Ruger 10/22, a Savage Mark II, and a Smith & Wesson M&P15-22.

Took the M&P to the range for the first time today and that thing is sweet, particularly because we went through 1500 rounds and paid less than $60 for ammo.

I've also got a Marlin 39 lever-action on order, but I don't know when it's going to come in yet.

Sounds good megaton, I am going to be selling my 710. I found out it's a throw away rifle, which sucks but whatever. I am going to try to get a Saiga in either 5.45 or .223.

The generally accepted school of thought when it comes to survival armaments is one should have the following:

--12 gauge shotgun
--.22 rifle (Ruger 10/22 being probably one of the best)
--Hunting rifle (30.06, .308, etc.) with scope
--Handgun (primarily for self-defense)

Ideally, that set up would apply to every member of your group. But, most of us probably can't afford that so do the best you can.

Nice weapons Megaton! I like the assortment, the caliber will be light on your wallet as you alluded to already.

Up here in the People's Republic of Massachusetts, we have a very obtrusive process to get your firearms license. A few friends of mine and I are going to start the process next month. Maybe it would make a nice thread here...

Yeah, once my Marlin comes in I'll have two semi-autos, the bolt action and a lever action. Makes for a fun day at the range.

Yeah, would be curious to hear of your experience getting a permit to acquire.

Primary hunting

Savage 25-06 with Redfield 3x9x40 scope bipods and 0-800 yd rangefinder. I can shoot this 500 yds into a paper plate.

PSE Stinger compound bow 300+ fps 5 pin .014 mm microdot sights ranged at 20, 30, 40, 50 & 75 yds I can shoot this accurately and hit paper plate at 75-80 yds.

Personal Defense

Springfield XD .40 cal 12+1 rds 3 clips one in gun two in tactical ammo holster. 185 gr. FMJ HP

Back-up gun is Ruger LCP in .380 auto 6+1 rds two clips.

Future Guns

Taurus Judge Magnum in .410ga/45LC

Ruger Mini 14.....................In .223 remington..........most important wasteland gun you can own.........you need two 30 round mags duct taped. Ammo is cheap, small, light, and most importantly everywhere........Duh........major military round...........keep this gun open sighted...............some type of open military sights you hear me............always pack this rifle as it can hunt, snipe up to 300-400 yds with good groups open sighted, close combat 5 yds still effective...............if you would take any other gun than this only a Ruger 10/22 would come close.............other things to consider is shotgun.......I myself would go .410ga single shot as the shotgun seems in my opinion the least needed.gun in the wasteland, as the Taurus Judge will suffice as a sawed off shotty and the bullets would be dual purpose and lighter.

So im deffinately getting the Mini 14 1st, the Taurus Judge second, .410ga single shot 3rd, and at least 1 Ruger 10/22 rifle and at least 1 Ruger mk model .22 ca semi-auto pistol. And also ask always hoard ammo.......

Interesting choices, I would take the hk416 over the mini-14 though. Basically the child of a ak-47 and M-16, though I dont know the price on one. Probably expensive though as all hell.

So my friend pretty much talked me into buying a handgun. The shop that I ordered the Marlin 39 from is letting me cancel that order and move the money I paid to a pistol, so it's basically free to me, since I paid for it almost 7 months ago.

I have some 9mm ammo laying around, so I'm looking at a Glock 34. I'll mostly use it for target shooting, so I want the slightly longer barrel.

I'll probably also pick up a Ruger Mk III Target to be able to use with cheap .22lr ammo.

Will probably stop by the shop this weekend, then just need to wait 14 days to pick them up.

Yeah, I think I know what you mean. The ammo I've got left over is flat point lead, and I hear lead and Glocks don't get along well. But I hope that I'll be ok as long as I clean it well after each hundred rounds or so. I'll ask about that at the shop.

Have you seen this Glock carbine conversion kit?

http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2009/01/19/caa-glock-carbine-kit/

Not sure if it's illegal or what, but it looks cool.

It would be legal, I have seen my fair share of glock carbines. They all look like shit to me, wouldn't mind a Mauser Carbine though, those things are pretty damn good looking.

So I stopped by the gun shop today. They were out of Glock 34s, but I did buy a Ruger Mk III Target Hunter. I'll be able to pick it up once I finish the 14 day waiting period.

It looks like this:

I also looked at a GSG 1911 Tactical in .22lr which wasn't available for sale yet, but I think I'm going to try to grab it as soon as it is.
