What if you didnt have any time to prepare? What if you weren't a gun enthusist or a seasonal buck hunter? what if you were just normal people without racks of .(add number here) and other firearms stockpiled and suddenly there is chaos and lawlessness and you wish you had kept an arsenal or two in preparation for this day? No worries! You're sitting on one! You just need to think outside the box.
First off, I have thought of 1. Molotov cocktails( glass bottles filled with gasoline and fabric stopper lit on fire) 2. Stainless halberd ( stainless knives roped at the end of wooden poles ) 3. Matchpowder cannon ( match heads or their crushed powder packed inside iron pipes loaded with some form of metal slug. Ignited through peephole. ) 4. Car ( run people over ) 5. Gas Flamethrower ( portable grill gas tanks attached with hose with igniter let loose steams of fire at foe) 6. Bamboo (cross)bows ( with bamboo arrows with sharpened scrap metal tip) 7. Firecracker explosives ( 4th of July leftovers used as grenades or gunpowder for above mentioned match cannon/muzzleloader) 8. Model rocket launcher ( complete with model rocket engines, pretty powerful stuff) 9. Chemical gas grenade ( an assortment of Chlorine, hydrocloric acid, bleach, loaded into bottle. Easy to make. ) 10. Your German Shepherd (good doggy)
Now lets hear some of your genius!

My brother n law come up with a good protection/diversion. Fill as many barrels (yes the big steel ones) with a gas powdered laundry detergent mix with a detonator on each one or somehow a fuse to them. Place them around your base and when trouble comes set them off. Gives you a good defense or a good diversion for you to get away. But in my point of view Molotov Cocktails would be just as effective. And you wouldn't waste as much fuel.

Nice idea! Are gas powdered laundry detergents explosive?

Supposedly it's like a napalm. I personally wouldn't use it but if someone was holed up somewhere and had them placed at the right spots i guess it would make a nice distraction if you were being attacked.
