2012!!!...bah, saw the film, wasn't impressed really. I don't think anything will happen...just like the Y2K thing when 1999 became 2000..people were panicing over nothing which is what will happen with this...come mid year they'll all start to clog up chat rooms, radio airwaves and tv stations with it....i think i'll unplug until 2013.

I don't understand how so many people are freaking out over this. If i drew up a timeline that only went to the year 5078, do you think people would react the same way when that came to an end?
The whole concept is redicules.

At least department and grocery stores will have a ton of customers during the fourth quarter.

For Y2k my preps involved buying a few extra bags of rice and beans, and some .22 LR shells. We had a huge garden and some chickens, so I figured on the off chance something really did happen, I'd be GTG. I think there are going to be a lot of nearly brand new generators for sale in January 2013.

tistine is a troll. No matter what you say, he will find a way to ridicule it. I encourage everyone to simply boycott him. Witness the responses I got from him. He's not worth the effort. |

I haven't really seen much psychobabble about the 2012 end of the earth stuff around here. At least not yet. In a few months time, they will start coming out of the woodwork, I'm sure. But this is primarily a military town, so people are around here are a little bit smarter than that. A little bit.

Has anyone else heard about Leap Year? Evidently the Mayan calender was finished before Leap Year was created by Julius Ceaser. Sooooo if you remove Leap Year for the past 2,000 years we would be in the middle of 2013. Guess I missed the Apocalypse.

I don't see where people get the world will end 12/21/2012. all it states is there will be a great change and a new beginning.

It's said that only around %2 of the American population actually believe (Or give merit to) to myths surrounding the Mayan Prophecy.
There is, however, something like %45 affirmation in Mexico.

People have historically dumped all of their assets into preparation for the 'End of Days' and end up feeling very broken up about the whole affair a few days after it doesn't come and they realize all of their work was for naught. I will say this much; those living in urban centers should still do well to have plenty of food, water, and other simple amenities on-hand during the month of December. I was a kid during Y2K, but I still remember stores everywhere being absolutely empty a few days following the new year.

I remember that, it was also like that during the cold war, where there would be thousands of people fighting for food, even when the apoc didn't happen. I was in a store in Bakersfield on the day after christmas 1999 (was being driven down to my extended family for the new year) and went into a walmart, It was literally packed with people.

Anyone read Justin Cronin's The Passage? Obviously it wouldn't be exactly like that, and by the way GREAT BOOK, but we humans do things because

I'm pretty sure they've discovered a long count calendar that dates further than Dec 2012. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnew....n-calendar.html
We're good for a little while To be fair, with the amount of Raptures I've lived through I consider myself more or less apocalypse-proof.
