THE KILLING FLOOR, the sequel to the popular zombie novel THE INFECTION by Craig DiLouie, is now available in trade paperback, audiobook and eBook (Kindle, Nook, etc.) formats from online booksellers everywhere.
The mystery virus struck down millions. Three days later, its victims awoke with a single violent purpose: spread the Infection. As the world lurched toward the apocalypse, some of the Infected continued to change, transforming into horrific monsters.
America's far-flung military has returned home to wage a horrific war against its own country, engaged in a fierce battle to retake Washington, DC. Two hundred miles away, Ray Young, survivor of a fight to save a refugee camp from hordes of Infected fleeing the burning ruins of Pittsburgh, awakes from a coma to learn he has also survived Infection.
But this is no miracle. Ray is not immune. Instead, he has been transformed into a superweapon that could end the world ... or save it.
"A high-octane, nail-biter of a zombie novel ... Craig DiLouie is one of the new masters of zombie fiction." --Jonathan Maberry, author of DEAD OF NIGHT and ROT & RUIN
"Harrowing action so thrilling you can't help but get lost in DiLouie's nightmares." --Joe McKinney, Bram Stoker Award-winning author of DEAD CITY and FLESH EATERS

Hey Craig, thanks for letting us know about the book. I'm looking forward to reading it. Does it start up right after the events of the first book? If so I might re-read the last part of Infection to catch up.
May the road gangs never meet you. May the wind be fallout-free. May the sun shine through the ashes, hot rain not fall on thee. And until we meet again, may no one hold your flesh in the palm of their hand.

Thanks for that, Megat0n. The book picks up where the last one left off, with many of the surviving characters from the first book. It has a more linear, less episodic story arc, plus some new characters and literary themes, to make the story fresh.

Hi I just finished reading the killing floor, Ive read all three of your books actually I just started reading post apocalyptic stuff last year and i was pretty happy with your books. what are you reading right now, or what was the last thing you read, and are any of the characters based on the people you have in life around you. how long did it take you to write these books on average also.

Thanks for that, PFCReed! I'm glad you enjoyed my books, and hope you'll leave a review on Amazon.
You asked some great questions. What am I reading? I'm always reading new books in the apocalyptic horror genre, and post reviews on all of them at my blog at www.craigdilouie.com. (Click on "Reviews of Other Books.")
Each of my novels usually takes about a year to put together. Between the day job and the demands of my family, that's about all I can handle. For about six months, I think about it, take notes, do research, and then for six months I write hardcore until it's finished.
As for my characters, I tend to create them out of thin air, and let their personalities develop while I'm writing. I don't like basing characters on people I know because they might have too big an impact on the story development at the beginning. I like the technique of letting the story, and the people in my story, grow together. That being said, my characters all have bits and pieces of people I know as well as bits and pieces of myself too.
