Algarothsyum - post-apocalyptic death metal « Thread Started on Jan 16, 2012, 10:54am »
Glad to see there's a music subforum! I suppose this is the best place to post this. A few of you already know of this, but I'm re-posting anyway.
I have a post-apocalyptic black/death metal solo project, called Algarothsyum. The project has been active for the last 4 years. It's basically very atmospheric, dark black/death metal, telling the tale of post-apocalyptic wasteland survival. The project's releases will all be part of a concept, telling a continuous story as albums are released.
I released a 5-track demo back in March 2011, titled "Spiraling to Realization".
Currently, I'm recording the debut full length album, which will include the 5 tracks from the demo, plus 5 more songs. Among those, the title song will be a 25-minute epic (split into 3 tracks). You can expect these kind of epic pieces to come from this project.

I really really like the concept behind it and in the last few months i've found myself liking the odd death metal band a little more. I'll give this a listen when i'm home hopefully. And yeah, the shutting down of MegaUpload it a real bitch, let's hope their MegaBox project happens some time soon, that could be cool.

Heh, death metal is a wonderful genre to get into. Seriously. There is a lot of extremely under-appreciated talent to be heard. Just ease into it, and before you know it, you'll be listening to it quite a bit.
With that said, hope you enjoy my music!
And I now have a new link for the demo. You can download it here, via Rapidshare: https://rapidshare.com/files/2690888326/algarothsyum_demo_2011.zip

A few quick updates:
1. I just re-uploaded the 5-track demo on Rapidshare. I had to make some ID3 tag corrections. The tracks were displaying incorrectly on Zune MP3 players (and possibly other non-iPod players). They were being displayed as "Vhyle" instead of "Algarothsyum" on playlists. But, I fixed the issue and re-uploaded the demo. The tracks are listed correctly on iPods, however. So download the new upload, if you wish.
2. I've been extremely busy the last week or so with work and parent stuff. Aside from a few guitar solos, I haven't recorded any major parts. I have a long weekend this weekend (and next!), so I'm gonna finish up the bass tracks this weekend. One more big step closer to album completion!
Also, sorry I haven't been around here. Again - been very busy. They're definitely putting me to good use at work. Heh.

Awesome, I appreciate it! Keep spreading the good word, because I love getting feedback. It turns into pure motivation.
If you like that stuff, just wait until the album is finished. Speaking of, it's close to being done. All I need now is a few more small guitar parts, and record vocals. Then it's ready for mixing and mastering. I'll make a blog post soon about the album's progress.
The guitar is a BC Rich Platinum Series Beast. I scored it on eBay for a mere $200, about 8 or so years ago, which is a mega deal. It's one of three BC Riches that I own. The other two are an NJ Series ST-III, and an NJ Series Ironbird (which is in the midst of a complete restoration).

And now the other songs!! I want MOAR!! xD haha no seriously, I am really looking forward til it is finished. In the meanwhile I'll spread word about your one-man Band. And that guitar.. Wow, I am not playing much guitar but if I had the same offer for 200 dollar, damn I'd take it hehe I'd even buy your album in form of CD, do you think you would be able to sell your Music as CD's in sometime? But you get anyway good money the more people are downloading your Demo and stuff from the Filesharing-Hoster right? Don't want you to lose your motivation I'm sure you could make yourself a name if you keep the good work up! Algarothsyum \,,/ -_- \,,/
