 Chainsaw Bat

I'm making this for Wasteland Weekend. I epoxied the chain onto an old chainsaw bar. Cut off five links so it'd fit better. Then I cut a softball bat and epoxied the bar into it. Looks like this now:

I'll drill into the bottom and epoxy a pommel. This one:

Next step is spikes. I'm thinking eight inch spike/nails that i've cut to three inch sections and sharpened. I'll set them into the bat with epoxy. I'm thinking a row of three spikes on the side of the bat without the bar in the way and than a ring of four spikes below where the bar is.

Any thoughts?

Looks good, I just used screws for mine. But it wouldn't work for you because of the sawblade in the bat.

Got the pommel shaved down so the handle of the bat didn't take too much drilling at the cost of loss of handle strength. Ended up cutting about an inch off the total length of the bolt and then ground the diameter of bolt down some too. I'd say about and eighth of an inch off all round.

I drilled out the bat and the pommel sits in it almost how I want it. I think I'll take some of the metal off the bottom part of it so it sits better on the bat handle.

This is it now:

It works nearly how I want it to. The pommel balances out the bat so it has a balancing point like this now:

Without the pommel it balances like this:

I'd like to get the ball hitch one size larger I think. But then I'd have to take the time to get it to the size and then age it too. I'm just not completely in love with this one. And I'm a bit of a perfectionist I guess. Things need to turn out in reality exactly as they did in my imagination. Oh well. This one will do I think.

:o Woah. The chainsaw-bat looks awesome. I like how it already looks kind of distressed, like it's been carried around the wasteland for some time.
can't wait to see it with the spikes! :)

I hope you plan to put more on, it would have been cool if you drill though it. Then put a screw bolt though the holes, and screw those puppies on but still. I guess you epoxied it on right?
